"I sought out Rachel Kane’s services after trying and continually failing to lose weight and get fit on my own. I needed someone to teach me the right way to lose weight with diet and exercise and how to maintain my weight loss. The first thing Rachel told me was, 'It doesn’t matter how much you work out if you continue to eat garbage.' She informed me that 80% of my results would be directly related to the food I ate. I was immediately crestfallen because I only planned to follow her prescribed diet while I was 'dieting.' Stubborn as I am, I begrudgingly changed my family meals to the organic creations she wrote. I forced myself to make green shakes for energy and sustenance instead of only drinking coffee until noon and eating junk foods full of preservatives, fat, and salt for lunch/dinner like I was accustomed to. I wasn’t strict about it however. I became lax over time but I still felt different. My body changed as the months went by. My muscles were more defined. I could actually see them as I lost weight. I felt great, but I was unsatisfied with how long it took to feel and see the results I desired. I especially wanted accelerated results because of the hard work I put into my workout routines in Rachel’s classes at UBarre, including pilates reformer. Workout alone was working, but it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t until I internalized the lessons Rachel had been teaching me all along that I had a breakthrough. I always heard her, but I didn’t listen. It’s not that I didn’t believe what she was saying. I just had to see and feel it for myself. In a moment of clarity, I reflected on my fitness/weight-loss journey. The times I felt slow, heavy, bloated, cranky, helpless and hopeless about changing my body directly correlated with the times I fell back into bad habits and ate poorly. The times I felt powerful, light and unstoppable were when I stuck to fresh foods, water, greens, and fruits. Upon reflection, I realized Rachel’s true message. Her nutritional program, in association with her workout regimen, best helped me to shed the weight I fought for years to shed on my own. I finally got it. I once asked Rachel, “Do you ever eat pizza?” She acknowledged that she does, but that she does so with caution knowing that she’ll be sleepy afterward, or feel bloated for days to follow. She said that recognizing the after-effects beforehand allows her to make better choices on a daily basis. For example, instead of 6 slices of pizza she’ll have one, or two, without feeling any deprivation. She made her choice because the marginal benefit the extra pizza provided was not worth the marginal cost associated with it. It was a miracle, a miracle because I finally knew that I don’t need to feel deprived. With Rachel’s insight, I learned that I never have to feel like I’m on a diet. I’m not sure why that conversation sticks out so clearly as the turning point for my embracing of Rachel’s Love Your Yourself program, but it does. I think about it daily when I have moments of weakness and thoughts of deprivation. My biggest mental block about long-term weight loss had always been accepting that I would have to abstain from my favorite foods and drinks in order to have the body I want. Rachel’s revelation regarding ‘choices’ and her instruction to me to remember how great my body feels when I give it the nutrition is craves is PRICELESS! Thank you Rachel for your knowledge, instruction, patience, encouragement and support!!! I would have never reached my goals without you."
