- Turn it off – Try to disconnect on the weekends or at least for one day or even a few hours each night. Put the phone down and turn off the computer. Give your work brain a rest...it feels so good!
- Trim, trim, trim – Say no to everything that is either not essential or doesn’t add something valuable to your life.
- Check in with your health – We know what we need to do, but it isn’t a priority until we have a health crisis. Our health really does affect the quality of our lives and our work. We are far more productive and happier when we get enough sleep, eat a little healthier and fit in some type of activity.
- Minimize toxins– Remove the negative influences around you. Complainers, whiners, poor attitudes! Surround yourself with positive, supportive, can-do people whenever possible
- Be alone – Try to meditate, write, sketch, do some yoga or simply sit quietly for a few minutes each day and do absolutely nothing. Making time for you is crucial for lowering stress, increasing happiness and encouraging creativity.
- Relationships – Set aside quality time with your family and friends by making regular dates with your significant other, have coffee with a friends, and visit family.
- Pamper yourself– Get a pedicure or a facial or a massage. Or even a glass of wine, your favorite coffee or tea, beautiful flowers or a long bath.
- Delegate - If you can spare the cash, then outsource you laundry, grocery shopping or basic yard work to create more opportunities for quality time. You never know—neighborhood kids and teens might be looking for extra spending money.
- Quality not quantity - Identify five activities that you enjoy and which take very little effort. Incorporate a movie night on Fridays. Have the movie delivered to your door, and add some popcorn and a pizza. This is a wonderful way to have both a quality family event while keeping from adding additional stress to your days.
